Another country?

According to The Age:
The use of recycled water for drinking purposes already occurs in many parts of the world, including Australia and Victoria.

Just as I suspected...

More seriously, it's a good article about our attitude to drinking water.

A quick question: Do they add fluoride to the drinking water over there?

In Sydney, yes. In Melbourne and many parts of Victoria, also yes. In Queensland, no, and there seems to be strong resistance to the idea. Does it happen in India?

In NSW, the mandate for adding fluoride comes from the Department of Health, which the is the body responsible for (not) approving the use of recycled water for drinking. Since it isn't approved, it is in some places for industry, large scale irrigation, and supplied in separate pipes to some new developments for washing machines, gardens, etc.

In India, no piped drinking water... water is an extremely scarce commodity due to the billions multiplying. People store, filter and boil or buy packaged water which is again a farce.

Back to the fluoride, I feel it is better to skip that additive in water due to its strong long-term side effects. Slowly, research is proving to single it out to induce some forms of cancer.

I must admit that I expected there to be piped water in at least one or two areas, but I wasn't thinking it needed to be piped to have fluoride added...

I'm sure my teeth would be worse with out it, but it has to be weighed up with the other effects.
